How Should KMUTT be Involved?
There are several good universities in Thailand which teach
geoinformatics-related topics. However, these are
applications oriented. That is, they are people who use
the geoinformatics, not people who create it.
Thailand, as a tropical country and a developing economy, has
geoinformatics technology needs which are not being met from outside.
Also, for reasons of national interest, local capability is desirable.
The Thai government currently has no good source of technological
advice about geoinformatics:
- NECTEC is not specialized in geoinformatics
- GISTDA is specialized in geoinformatics, but not much in engineering
(except satellites)
- Other universities, as far as I know, are primarily applications oriented.
Some faculty and students at KMUTT are interested in or involved with
research with geospatial aspects
Is a University-wide Geoinformatics Center a good idea?
